The TOP 6 Best Dr. Squatch Soaps

Super fans of good ol' Dr. Squatch and their lineup of excellent soap and cleansing products.

It should be noted that "best" of anything can be subjective. When it comes to men's natural soap, as Dr. Squatch markets their products, the best will be, in part, based on individual skin needs and scent preferences. The best could also be measured by how long the bar soap lasts. To note, Squatch does well in this area.

As for us, we love the originals. The non-collabs. The timeless. Here are the Dr. Squatch's soap bars we love the most.

Our Thoughts on Squatch Scented Soaps

A packaged bar of Dr. Squatch Men's Natural Soap Heavy Grit Pine Tar Scent

Pine Tar

Pine Tar is known for its deep cleaning and woody scent. It contains oatmeal, which confers certain benefits in soap, and sand for natural scrubbing. It's the only toiletry that makes you feel like you're about to hit a home run after using it.  Baseball players take note.

Wood Barrel Bourbon

Has a rich, complex scent with notes of oak and vanilla. Contains kaolin clay for gentle exfoliation. Wood Barrel Bourbon was our first interaction with a Squatch product and we couldn't have been more delighted.

Bay Rum

Features a warm, spicy scent with notes of cinnamon and citrus. Contains shea butter for moisturizing.  Lathers well.

Cool Fresh Aloe

Great for sensitive skin, with a light, refreshing scent. The aloe provides natural soothing, which makes Cool Fresh Aloe clutch for beach vacations.

Fresh Falls

A fresh, clean scent similar to high-end cologne. Good for everyday use with a more subtle fragrance.

Rainforest Rapids

Somewhere between Cool Fresh Aloe and Fresh Falls. Makes sense, right?

This seems like what the smell would be if you stood on the banks of a river in the middle of a rainforest. Dr. Squatch probably wandered off into the Amazon to study such a smell. Must be the Eucalyptus Leaf and Pumice hard at work.

Honorable Mentions

Mountain Meadow and Coastal Mist are enjoyable fragrances.  Same goes for Alpine Sage and Summer Citrus.  If you like your grit level medium and you're feeling West Coast, try Sierra Storm.

The Collaborations

a bar of Dr. Squatch Suds of the Sly soap from the Harry Potter collection

Suds of the Sly

What, were you automatically expecting Gryffindor to top the list?  Made with ingredients we've never used before in soap, including Necklace Pod, Skullcap Powder, and Snake Grass, Suds of the Sly lathers richer than a Malfoy buying wands in Diagon Alley.

The Harry Potter Collection features far more than just Suds of the Sly. For starters, there is Lather of the Loyal (Hufflepuff), Grit of the Genius (Ravenclaw), and Bricc of the Brave (Gryffindor). Each are made with unique ingredients such as Crownwood Fern Extract and Sword Grass extract that sound mystically sorted into the House of each bar soap.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How Do I Choose The Best Dr. Squatch Soap For Me?

  • Your skin type (some bars are more moisturizing, others more exfoliating)
  • Scent preferences (woody, fresh, spicy, etc.)
  • Specific skin concerns (sensitivity, dryness, etc.)

Which Dr. Squatch Soap Smells The Best?

We believe Wood Barrel Bourbon to be the best smelling soap that Dr. Squatch makes. Spice, oak, bourbon, what more could a Squatch Man want?

What is the Best Dr. Squatch Soap For Eczema?

First, always seek the advice of a professional doctor for skin issues such as Eczema. Dr. Squatch is a "doctor" in the same way that Dr. Pibb is.

Elect a zero grit soap such as Cool Fresh Aloe. Many a latherer lay claim to Cool Fresh Aloe leaving their skin feeling moisturized. That sense of gentleness extends beyond the soap and into the fragrance, which seems to not bother those with sensitivities to strong fragrances and perfumes.

Is Dr. Squatch Soap Good For Psoriasis?

Once again, always seek the advice of a professional doctor for skin issues such as Psoriasis. That said, we'd go with Coconut Castaway, as coconut oil, an ingredient of Coconut Castaway, helps the skin to feel nourished.

Is Dr. Squatch Soap Good for Tattoo Aftercare?

Potentially, as Dr. Squatch's Total Moisture bar is fragrance-free, which is what you're looking for for tattoo aftercare. If you have fresh ink that you're looking to clean, check out our Castile Soap for tattoos.

How do Dr. Squatch Deoderant scents compare to soap?

Dr. Squatch deodorant scents are a near spot on match for their soap counterparts and complement each other in their application.

How does BubbleDrunk compare to Dr. Squatch Soaps?

Favorably?  Like Rocky vs Apollo in the first movie, we believe our bar soaps hold their own against any other company, including Dr. Squatch.

Are they the champ?  Yes, and for good reason.  They make high quality soap. Yet, so do we.

What should we buy if we like Dr. Squatch?

Pound for pound, we'd put our flagship BubbleDrunk up against any bar the doctor produces.  Though not as aromatically complex, we'd have The Williamson go toe to toe with many Squatch bars also.  And while not a collab bar, we'd say Give Yer Balls A Scrub is arguably a better men's cologne than anything we've tried from them.  But hey, your mileage may vary.
